We had a prompt at the art club to draw “Angry Birds”. (lol wat??) I wanted to do Mass Effect fanart so I tried to merge them … I only got as far as Garrus and Wrex because it turns out character designing is pretty damn hard haha.
Always wanted to try out that Nico Marlet/Disney/Pixar/Animation style, their shape language is so good

wow

Turians as birds, I have been waiting for this since I learned they were avian. Wrex you are one intimidating bird. Now how long before some draws krogans as hamsters, cause come on that what they (their tail mostly) always reminded me.

I reaaaaally liked the style of Varric’s li’l ol’ picturebook in Dragon Age II.
So I attempted to emulate it for Mass Effect. Key word being “attempted”.
I wanted Shepard to be gender-neutral in the center, and I tried to do all the main peeps from Mass Effect 1 around him/her. I was planning on doing the peeps from Mass Effect 2, and maybe even 3 eventually, but I dunno.
I can see the story of Shepard being told ages and ages later in legendary picturebook form, so this is what I pictured. And Varric can narrate it, because dayum, but that dwarf can tell a tale. In that deep hairy-barrel-chested voice of his.

this is brilliant, and damn but that ending would have give me all the chills and thrills i was desperate for if it’d been varric’s voice-over at the end. ‘i shit you not, kid,’ he’d say. ‘that’s the real story of the shepard.’

click-through for giganto-jpg. i didn’t really plan this out so i just guessed relative size and my line width is all over the place. welp
final psd resolution was 19262x3672 and that was after resizing once I realised how big it was getting. i’m dumb
lots of reference used for costumes c:

click through to see the full version of this, seriously. it’s spectacular. and it’s stuffed full of what i love most about the mass effect games: the squadmates. shepard’s family. their interaction with each other, banter transformed into visual cues, body language, snapshots of personal moments, a panorama of interaction. how they rely on each other and stand by each other and they’re a part of each other’s lives, all brought together by the luck and grit of one commander, standing on their own but standing for shepard, with shepard, with the rest of the best. i love them so much and i feel like this piece captures their love for one another, which is also their love for shepard. what they’re standing and fighting for. incredible.

Say hello the cutest version of Mass Effect ever!

Lowpoly artist Nix is at it again with an amazing set of lowpoly Mass Effect characters. The amount of detail is kind of staggering and cute a button. Props for even managing to put in that patented Miranda “Dat Ass”.

reblogging for kickass lowpoly reference

omg those unwraps are so fucking tight, almost all the space used * - *
